RIGID FOR MANY OVERHEAD FACILITIES
Metallic expansion joints are produced with one or more bellows. These bellows allow the compensation of axial and lateral movements but only in a limited range. It is possible to add lateral tie rods either to limit or to direct the needed expansion. The type of metal to be used is determined by the type of flow; it is also possible to add inside deflectors for protection. And finally, the thickness of the metal will depend on the pressure.
Resistance to high pressures and low maintenance costs are the principal advantages of metal expansion joints.
Their stiffness turns out to be a great advantage in big installations where many aerial supports are needed. This way they help to maintain and preserve the structure of the installation.
